Easter Egger - Beautiful pullet or beautiful cockerel?

We were gifted a couple eggs for a broody hen and we’re told the chicks should be Easter eggers. They are 7 weeks old. We are 99.9% certain one is a cockerel. The white and black one is the one we question. They are a beautiful bird. Behavior wise we think pullet. They also have a single comb...

Possibly a cockerel among the pullets?

I have 3 Australorps close to 16 weeks old that are suppose to be pullets, but I’m noticing a difference in tail feather on one. Is #3 a roo? The first 2 are behaving like pullets. They recently started running up to me when I step outside and squat when petted.

I have two 6 week old silver double laced barnevelder chicks. Any clues as to if they’re a pullet or cockerel?

    First hatch gone wrong?

It’s been at least 28 hours since our first egg hatched on day 17. None of the other eggs have even pipped. What gives? Temp and humidity are fine. I did have to open the incubator when the first chick got its leg stuck and again after 24 hours to move it to the brooder. Did I do something...

    Pullets vs cockerels

Bought 3 australorps sexed as pullets, but now I’m questioning one, maybe two, of the chicks. All are 6 weeks old. One of them has a darker comb and red wattles coming in. Pics of all 3 to compare. They are hard to photo shoot, so these are the best pics I could snap. The 3rd chicks wattle is...

    Integrating chicks to chicks

Hi there, I’m picking up week old chicks from 2 different breeders next week (npip certified if that matters). The chicks will be the same age, give or take a few days. Do I need to quarantine then integrate? Being that they’re so young, could I integrate them right away? Thanks!

    Chesapeake, Va

Asking for a friend… does the 6 hen limit include chicks and grow outs? Chicken math gets tricky when you don’t know if the chicks are pullets or cockerels, so you get extra just in case you have to rehome a few.

    Suspicious chick

Starting to suspect I have a roo, based on what I’ve read about combs. Is it too early? Probably, but one of my buff Orpington chicks, that is the smallest and slowest to feather, has the biggest comb and it’s starting to look a little pink. My more feathered buffs are still flesh colored. The...

    Repurposing play fort

We have an old fort we might repurpose into a coop. My kids have never used the inside. There’s always spiders 😬 They can climb on top if they wanted too, but haven’t in over a year, so it’s free game lol I’m open to suggestions. Below are the pics.

    Chick ages

Hey! I’m trying to gauge the age of these chicks. I’m guessing about 2 weeks old for 4 of them, but I seem to have a couple that might be 3-4 weeks. Thanks!

    Hey!

Hi everyone! I’m a new chick mom, but I’ve wanted chickens and to start a little homestead for at least a decade. I don’t have my land (yet), but after years of moving around I’m putting down roots, have a backyard, and finally got me some buff Orpington and australorp chicks. I plan on adding...
