Welcome to all our newcomers!! it's been awhile since I have visited and posted here but it warms my heart to see fellow Mississippians that love their chickens as much as I do.
Their feather patterns is one thing I really like about them. They truly are beautiful birds. My 2 roos are gorgeous. I will have to take a photo and post it
Of the 2 hatchings we had this past spring, we did get a total of 12 chicks and 3 of those were pure speckled sussex 2 roos and 1 hen. We have 4 SS total. The 2 roos seem to get along fine. I love the breed.

I am in the Greenville area. I have a variety of breeds, BLR Wyandottes, Speckled Sussex, New Hampshire Reds, Partridge Rocks, Dominiques, also some mixed breeds.
I have a group of chronic crowers as well, especially my Dominique and Speckled Sussex. Our 4 main roos have competitions with each other as well as the roo up the road. I sure hope the people in the community likes hearing roos crow!!

Hens do like sharing nests. We currently have a 2 nest nest box and there have been a number of times that I have opened it up to do a nest check and find 2 hens in each nest.
