I just peeled back a bit of the membrane so it’s not wrapped blocking his little nostrils. I’m not going to interfere with him again, i’ll wait however long to see if any progress is made. He was squealing and whistling so loudly seemed as if he was stressed before i peeled it back for him. Now...
Ducky had started to externally pip 24+ hrs ago and made some holes!
When i could finally see his beak through the hole i noticed the membrane still covering most of it.
I decided to peel back more of the shell and use a wet Q Tip to damp the membrane and move it so the duckling could breathe...
Apologies they aren’t the best photos, my camera had a hard time focusing. I’m just curious if it looks like an internal pip and if i should consider adding a safety hole within the next 24 hours although it’s not even 28 days yet? Also, in the middle of the picture/egg it looks like a little...
So it’s day 23 for this ducky and the air cell has increased a LOT in the past few days. I marked it on day 21 and you can definitely see the difference now! I just checked on ducky to see what he’s up to, is this an internal pip on day 23? I can not hear chirping, the egg has been rocking and...
aw i love the idea of disco and cowboy 😅 ive decided, if my hatch goes successfully, duckie will be called Boo, a neutral nickname until i know if its a boy or girl <3 I'm thinking if she's a girl I might call her Sugar or Donut lol, not quite sure about boy names yet.
Also a good sign, i could see Egg 1 pushing the membrane up last night ever so slightly, i never got to witness my other egg a few months ago do this as it was a quitter in the end with no internal pip. Looks like Egg 1 is trying to pip :)
They have been in for about 21 or 22 days. The humidity and temp reader is helping a lot! My incubator stated the temp was at 37.5 when i started but the new reader said it was only 34-35C!! Incubator is currently set at 39.5 and the reader states 37.5 :)
I think duck 2 had passed, i can not...
Egg 1, looking great, candling from the bottom is pitch black in the egg so i didn’t bother taking a picture. Egg2, the yellow colour is candling from the bottom of the egg, not 100% what to think or expect with that, but the air cell is saddled with Egg 2 too from candying at the top
Only just been able to take the photos sorry but here is Egg 1 and Egg 2 :) The second embryo is a bit smaller than the first one so it may be a bit of a late hatch
