Scamper is turning out to be one fine rooster. Poor boy had to learn fast. He was supposed to be a pullet, but we know how that goes. He matured so much faster than the pullets I originally purchased him with, that several months ago I put him with my original flock. Them: being approx 5 weeks...
I have two cockerels; one that I intentionally bought that is supposed to be a Whiting True Blue and one that turned out to be my mystery chick from McMurray hatchery. Up until recently I thought one was definitely a blue laced red Wyandotte and he was the mystery chick, and my grey and white...
I don’t think you can, or should. At least not for a few weeks to make sure she doesn’t have anything that could infect the rest of your flock. Also, they could really injure her if she’s not slowly introduced. I would put her in a pen around your flock at minimum for several weeks. I’m no...
I just wanted to give thanks and appreciation to this site. I being a new chicken and duck owner, I have learned so much off of this site. The collaborated knowledge here is truly exceptional. I’m currently running a duck ICU (I am a nurse) and while she had her leg taken off by a bobcat- she’s...
I actually bought 4, two pullet leghorns and two pullet barred rocks. Up until a week and a half ago both of the leghorns resembled each other. I’m that last week and a half; Scamper has taken off with her bad self. Only I’m thinking she’s not a she, why reason for looking for reinforcements:)
So I bought two “pullets” from TSC, they are now 5 weeks old. I’m thinking one is not a pullet. Please tell me what you think. I’ve learned so much from this site, so thankful for all of the knowledge and expertise.
Received this beautiful baby as a surprise chick from McMurray Hatchery. Pics aren’t great, but she kinda reminds me of a Barred Rock only she’s a blue/grey, with a little spot of yellow on “her” chest. Any thoughts would be appreciated
Curious if anyone else is from Arizona? So while I grew up with chickens, I don’t remember ever raising them them as chicks, so this is a first for my husband and I…. And to be honest a lot of chicken lover/owners can be quite brutal when asking “innocent”questions. Making me a little hesitant...
This is my second “brooder.” I somehow forgot to mention my two beautiful silver laced Wyandotte along with the rest. So in case my question wasn’t clear; is it possible that the two bigger chicks in the first brooder are just older? Even though I was told otherwise. I guess I just feel bad...
Hello, first time posting as I’m a new mom of 11 chicks. While I grew up with them, it’s been a minute. After several years of wanting them; 2 1/2 weeks ago I came home with some Easter Eggers, Sapphire Gems, a beautiful New Hamphire, and slme “Assorted” colored egg layers. I have them set up...
