I just got my Brinsea today, and set it up and was doing the same thing. I called customer service and come to find out you’re supposed to wrap the tubing around the Capstan twice. I had no clue. I know this post was 6 years ago, but hoping it can help anyone that goes through the same thing I did.
Update!!!
We have had Penelope quarantined since I made the original post. Since then she has started to stand again, but she walks with a limp and her foot curled in. I’m thinking the rooster injured her during a bad mating. I do not feel any fever in the leg at all. At this point we are...
I wonder if she is injured. She was doing great yesterday until one rooster was being aggressive trying to do the deed. I know she is definitely in pain or something cause she is very spicy today and she does not want to be touched at all. I’m still going to continue with quarantine to keep the...
My hen started showing signs of distress last night. I checked her this morning and she is still unable to walk and one foot will shake if she does try to walk. She also try’s to fly but can’t get anywhere. My guess is Scaly Leg mites? But I’m not 100% sure. I took pictures of her feet to the...
Glad the post was able to help you out and me, lol! My pullets are outside now, but they are fully feathered. But I did just get 10 baby EasterEgger chicks and I'm winging it too! This is my first time having baby chicks. We boght our pullets as already laying hens. I have so much more research...

Got these Easter Egger baby’s and me and the breeder tried to make sure we did our research on sexing the chicks by wings/feathers. Well we both second guessed ourselves in the process and did the best we could. I came home with 10 chicks. Hoping to have all hens. In this picture I have two...
Thank you for the welcome!🤎 Lol, she is so spicy so had to give her a name that fit the bill!🤣 I’m looking into getting some Easter eggers this time but I might try my hand in chicks depending on if my flock gets/stays healthy as we currently have a sick hen.):
Yessss! Congrats on your new flock! It’s really is such a life changer. I’m loving the life of chickens! Can’t wait to learn more about them and all the things that comes with them!🤗
They are fully feathered! I’m glad I’m getting all this info, cause my husband didn’t believe me when I told him they didn’t need a heating lamp, lol! Thank you!😊
Do pullets need a heat lamp?
Do my pullets and Roos need a heating lamp in the coop overnight. I’m in Georgia and the low tonight is going to be 57. I have a sick hen and was also wondering if I needed to put a heating lamp in her Henspital since she will be separated from the flock. My...
