Ours are about 4 months old as well, and the Whites are as big if not slightly bigger than the black Spanish. We have one tom of each variety, and the white tom is bigger than the black Spanish and the red bourbon.
We ordered mixed heritage poults from Meyer hatchery about 4 months ago. The Black Spanish and Bourbon Red were pretty easy to figure out, but how do we know if our white turkeys are White Hollands or Midget Whites?
The two with the largest purple and red combs were the only roo's out of the whole group...now I'm regretting getting 2 more silkie chicks with our last batch of wyandotte chicks 😅. One of the roosters has already been rehomed, and the other I've been calling a he since day one. He has 6 toes on...
I figured the first one was. The last one with the bright red comb and wattle I'm 99% sure is too. There's 6 in total. I'm thinking only one is a hen (the second pic). We had a 7th, but he crowed about a week ago. Yours is beautiful 🥰
I know. I know. The only surefire way to know is wait until they lay or crow. Since these are nonbearded, I'm hoping it's a little easier. I'm new to silkies, and a few of them I have a really good idea about. We have two groups. One group is 19 weeks, the other just hit 5 months old today.
Well now that we've hatched out 20 chicks just to find out they're not full wyandottes...that kind of throws a kink in the breeding program 😅. We've just hit our first full year with chickens. Now I understand why a friend said my rooster reminded her of her barred rock 🤣
The more I look into it, the more I agree with you. I also found this painting, and this is almost exactly the size difference between this rooster and the wyandotte rooster. They're maybe 3 months apart in age.
The soles of her feet are yellow, but honestly that's what I was starting to think after looking at pics of sapphire gem eggs. We've always said that no one lays an egg like her, the rest of our hens are all Wyandottes. I hasn't looked in to blue rocks though, I'll have to look more into that.
Okay so we were given these two for free to get our flock started a little over a year ago. We were told that they were bought from a TSC bin labeled blue Wyandottes. This hen is laying near duck egg sized eggs regularly(single yolk!), and after getting our hands on a gold laced Wyandotte...
I picked up some assorted bantams from tsc awhile back. I was able to figure out all 4 breeds, and the sexes of my d'uccle and old english. I'm having a problem with the sebrights though. I want to say there's one of each for the golds and silvers, but I'm not sure. The golds are about 6 weeks...
