    Ideal Bantam Assortment

They don't have feathered legs, or beards..... So I think that limits it down to: Easter Eggers Cornish Japanese Old English Sebright Wyandotte

    Ideal Bantam Assortment

It could be any of the bantam breeds that Ideal Poultry carries.

    Ideal Bantam Assortment

Just for fun, we got these 3 new bantam chicks this morning from Ideal Poultry. We just added them as a surprise assortment to get to the order minimum. #1 is larger than the other two. Any guesses on what they are? #1 maybe a bantam Easter Egger? #2 an OEGB? Color? I'm hoping it's a spangled...

14 week old "Easter Eggers" gender help

Would love some help guessing genders on these three. They are about 14 weeks old now and are basically Easter Eggers. I'm guessing at least 2 of the 3 are cockerels, but hoping I am wrong. Edit to add: The rumpless one has shiny striped gold areas which makes me think rooster. The two colored...

    New chicks! Fibro/frizzle/Easter Eggers

I bought the chicks from a local-ish lady. She has tons of different breeds and fun genes to work with.

    New chicks! Fibro/frizzle/Easter Eggers

I will! Some of them will be leaving once they are old enough to tell gender. I can't keep the males, but the females will be sticking around.

    New chicks! Fibro/frizzle/Easter Eggers

Just got some new chicks. They are fun mixed chicks. Some are fibro crosses, some have frizzled feathers, some have 5 toes, some have beards, some have feathered legs, and they should lay colored eggs. Can't wait to see how they grow out.

    Guess the breed

I went on the Iowa Blue breed club website and they could end up being a Birchen color, based on the chick picks they showed on the website. I'm not holding my breath though. They are hatchery birds so who knows what color they will end up being. I was hoping for the pretty silver color.

    Guess the breed

You got it! They are Iowa Blues. Although they aren't the color I envisioned they would be.

    Guess the breed

Oh, another hint that might help. You won't find this breed listed on their website with the rest of their breeds, BUT they are listed on their price sheets..... Part of the reason I didn't even know they had them.

    Guess the breed

Ok one more hint. Their name contains the state they were created in.

    Guess the breed

A silkie would be a surprise but that's not it either. Also not a barred rock. Another clue, I didn't even know they had this breed until I called to change my order and the sales rep suggested these. They are supposed to be perfect for Midwest weather, friendly, and good layers. They are also...

    Guess the breed

They are not Austrolorps and not Marans. ;)

Just for fun, guess the breed. I know what they are supposed to be but was a bit surprised be the way they looked when they arrived, so we will see if all you breed guessing experts will get the right answer. Let's play the male or female game....

They will stick around until crowing starts. Lol! When they were little I swore #1 was a pullet and #2 & #3 were cockerels based on feather sexing, feather growth rate, and leg thickness. Now I am guessing that #1 and #3 are cockerels because they are my favorites and it always seems that the...

Let's play the male or female game....

They are basically funky Easter Eggers. I bought the eggs off Ebay for fun. The listing said it was blue Easter egger hens, frizzled hens, rumpless araucana hens, with a blue araucana rooster, and black ameraucana rooster.

Let's play the male or female game....

Same here. LOL! I have about 8 years of chicken experience but these are just hard. I *thought* I had them figured out a couple times, but then they would change and I would be left guessing again. :P

Let's play the male or female game....

These chicks are almost 6 weeks old. Any guesses on genders?

    Which "spangled" breed?

We already have some EEs. :) I'm allowed 6 hens and I am looking for a "spangled" colored breed to add to the flock. The other spots are already decided.

    Which "spangled" breed?

Yea, that's kind of what I found about the breeds also. Hence why I am having a problem picking one. All the breeds sound great but I only have space left for 1 of them. :P
