I don’t know if it’s a speckled or a silver duckwing? But I think it’s old English game bantam breed.

He is 2 weeks old and I noticed in his fluffy top an emerging lump, that I thought was poop in his hair. Upon picking at it very gently it bled so I’m concerned he is not in the best condition. He’s not complaining to me touching it, no one picks on him, and he seems fine in every way…eating...

Maybe it was a shell-less egg and she had a hard time passing it? Maybe you could gently tug at it and see if it is attached to her/ uterus tissue or if it’s something she’s trying to pass like a partial egg mass.

Quail are awesome! Very sweet and calm and I get so many eggs from them. That’s cool you have geese! My daughter recently started raising geese.

I’m new-ish to BYC,(I was on this forum about 15 years ago) and I’m back. I have Coturnix quail and a few bantam chicks. I’m really looking forward to meeting other chicken lovers and learning more about birds and cool breeds.
