Nov 2023 Organic chicken egg prices How much do you charge and where are you located?

I have been feeding my chickens w Purina Layena, non organic. I thought I'd try organic for a while so I separated some of my chicks and are feeding them organic feed. It is about .75 cents a lb where regular feed is .45 cents a lb. I'm trying to figure out what I should sell them for. $5 sound...

    Not eating much

I usually go through 3 bags of feed a week with my chickens. I've just gone through one bag in 10 days. They're not eating much. They love the garden veggies and dried worms but not eating much of their feed. I've wormed them, dipped them for bugs, fresh clean water/feed, fermented the feed...

    Eclipse

I'm in Murphysboro IL and in the 100% of totality (I think!). I am wondering what affect it will have on the chickens. I imagine they'll go in and roost and then come out a few minutes later thinking what I usually do, "gosh the night went fast". :) Think it will affect their behavior or laying?

Exechequer leghorn 8 week old rooster Murphysboro IL

I ordered 2 female exechequer leghorns from Meyer Hatchery and got one male and one female. :( I don't need another rooster. He is 8 weeks old now and been crowing for 2 weeks! Free to good home. Vaccinated for Mareks. Picture from the web what he will look like when he matures. Murphysboro IL

4 year old rooster's crow changed

Red, my 4 year old Rhode Island Red rooster, his crow has changed recently. It is still very strong and robust but instead of three syllables it is now two. Sounds funny to say that, but I noticed it this past week. I like the old crow! He doesn't seem like he is sick (no wheezing, gagging, etc).

Red, leathery skin around vent on rooster

Been rather windy here lately and thankful that it has! As the wind blew, I saw my rooster's bottom and there is a red patch of skin around his vent. The vent is fine. The patch of red skin is about 4" in diameter. It isn't hot to the touch but the skin looks like cauliflower. The skin is dry...

    Dead chicken

I went out to check on my chickens this morning and found my Goldie, a Brown Leghorn, my best layer, dead in her nest. Something got in the coop and tore her head off (never found it) and tore into her body some. My first chicken death. She is only a year old. The other chickens are fine. I've...

    Rabbits and Chickens

Does anyone know if it would be safe for both my rabbit and chickens to be in the same fenced-in area of the yard? I have a Rhode Island Red rooster and 7 other various hens. I was thinking of moving the rabbit hutch into the chicken yard so Thumper can run around too. Thanx!
