Does this coop have power? I'm just curious because i live in a colder climate and would like to make a new coop for Banties... and i would need it to be powered for the winter.
Yup! boys!!
I have 5 chicks from a broody hen that hatched out in August.. they look alot like these guys, and they are mixes Brown leghorn and Dark Star mixes. The Hen laid 5 eggs.. and all 5 hatched and all 5 are roos. lol
The Speckled rooster was given to us... i have no idea where he came from, if he is a hatchery bird or not... He came with 3 other roosters, mostly white speckled, but we didn't need 6 roosters for the amount of Hens we have (20 hens) so we gave away the white speckled ones.. they were super...
Yes thank you! I found that as well... It took me a while to figure out how to use it.. (since the instructions are in danish) but yeah.. looks fun!!! Although it doesn't have the exact colour variations of our birds
Awesome awesome!! Thank you so much!!!
The Danish brown leghorn is a hatchery chick... They say they keep their "heritage breeds" in a different breeding facility so that you get pure bred chicks.. but of course i can't be certain of that, since I didn't breed or hatch him out. I very much...
So for her project should her be putting Partridge for the Danish Brown or would Black Breasted Red be a better description?
For The 2nd Rooster (Mr. Bigglesworth) Should we make up a colour designator? or what would be the closest? As close as it could be would be in my dd's best interest...
I need to know what colour these roosters are... I have 3.. 1 is a Danish Brown Leghorn.. and I'm pretty sure his coloring is called "Partridge"
But my other 2 of mixed breeds (of what i have no idea) and I need to know what the colour would be called?
See my oldest DD is starting her Grade...
Agreed. Hatchery birds are "Utility Birds" only.. and very rarely will you find a bird good enough to even consider showing.
So if you just want a good all over bird that will lay your eggs and cause no real fuss and are a good price (hatcheries deal in QUANTITY rather than quality) then go...
I have about 27 chickens and i usually get 5-7 eggs a day... So either they aren't laying or they are laying somewhere i haven't found. it drives me insane.
I have Danish Brown Leghorns, DarkStars and ISA Crosses. I'd love to have some "pretty" birds.. but we need them for egg production and...
Yeah i was quite sad about it. but as my hubby said "Sometimes that's just how it is"
Out of the 3 (now 2) hatched chicks there is one that is slightly bigger than the others...it has a black spot on it's head (we call it Spot lol real original) it seems to just be bigger... heavier than the...
Hey!!
Sorry guys I've been crazy busy.
Anyway, I lost one of my hatched chicks this weekend. it was almost 2 weeks old. the wire lid to my brooder caved in from the mama hen and her chicks sitting on it, my 3 incubated chicks escaped some how and mama hen pecked one of the chicks to death.. it...
hurray!!
more fuzzies! My fluffers are3 days old now and are doing well! My older 3 week old chicks with the broody mama hen are sitting on top of the wire lid to my brooding box.. totally cute
I bought 12 of the dark stars and i really enjoy them. They are very smart and tend to follow you around the barn yard. I have even taught them tricks. Every time i say "let's go" they twirl in a circle.. lol
They tend to be clean birds and are very good mothers. The one hen we had go broody is...
My eggs which were incubator hatched didn't rock at all.... at least not when i was around. They did chirp though. and i didn't notice rocking until the chicks were pretty much out completely. I have no real experience with broody hens because the one hen we do have that is broody.. just...
Our Bator was next to our bed on my dresser! The noise from the chicks trying to hatch out and chirping kept waking me up.. lol
OH! and good news... We are getting a Brinsea Octagon 20 next week!! (with turning tray) i can't wait!!!
I have lots of people asking for chicks for their own use and...
