    Chick Grit

I am still trying to figure out this chick grit thing. Is there a reason not to put a pan of dirt into the brooder instead of buying chick grit. Mine are in the brooder during the night and go outside into a tractor for the warmest part of the afternoon to range. They have had a pan of dirt...

    Raising Pigeons for Meat

I have read a couple of articles on raising Squab. Does anyone have any experience in this? (positive or negative) I have been considering it as it looks pretty easy to set up. Does anyone know of a source for breeding stock in northern New England? Thanks...

    Hand Turning Eggs

Hey All, I am thinking about incubating some Silkie Eggs in a home-make incubator. I am not quite clear on the turning thing. How often to turn? How much of a turn do they need? How much of a turn is too much? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Eating Roosters

Hey All, I am getting some barred Rock Chicks coming in soon. They are supposed to be all pullets, but if we end up with some roos, I was planning on raising them to eat. How long do you think it would take to get them to a stage where they would be worth the trouble of cleaning and eating?

    Small Capacity Incubator

Are there any recommendations for an incubator that will do just 3-5 eggs? I've seen ones that look like little plastic flying saucers, and wasn't sure what kind of results they would get. Is there anything else for hatchign small numbers?
