Wait now I'm scared the light is too low! I don't want to cook them (yet) can they jump and burn themselves? It's probably 10" or so from the ground- mamatoes

im off to get my chicks in about an hour or two and no one had actual heat lamps so i got a lamp clamp from lowes and a red flood light. It's only been on for about 30-40 min but it doesnt seem like its going to get hotter then it is and the bedding below it isnt even warm to the touch. any...- mamatoes
