Sadly, I have a very vivid imagination - I just saw in my head, rats having a pool party in the garbage can. Doing the back float, water wings, little floaty pads and having a grand old time. I think I'll just stick with poisoning them if we get another outbreak.

We have used rat bait here, even though we had outdoor cats at the time. We just put it where only the rodents could get it. Never had a problem with cats eating poisoned rats, never found a carcass.
