With a roof, you can winterize the run with plastic sheeting. I use a double layer of the rolled semi-clear sheeting, stapled to the framing, with the upper foot of the south and east sides left open for ventilation. It makes the entire coop and run into a nice winter coop. Mary

I agree with everyone. Roof it! Chickens hate snow, and unless you plan to shovel every inch of it all winter, have a roof. Mary
