Also finished final run plans.
Tried to make the connection to the coop not as awkward as before.
27 2x4x8
8 2x4x10
87 sqft of space including area under coop
Also might make a small door under the coop for access.
I didn't know that haha. Its my first time building something like this. But good to know for next time. The project has been a learning experience.
I saw a YouTube video that said let the shingles soften in the hot sun will help with bending. He had a 12/12 roof so the peak was very similar to...
Need some help with roofing.
How should I water seal this part where the lower roof meets the cupola wall? Silicone?
And the peak of the roof? I tried what I saw online by bending a single panel with a 5 inch reveal. But I feel like the shingle is gonna tear with such a sharp bend create a...
Thanks
@cavemanrich
I decide to put the coop inside the run. Which will give me 16sq ft of shade from rain. Most of the run is shaded by a tree.
@aart
I liked that design but i think the roof line was too different from the coops which might make it look weird.
I think I will go with the...
Coop is almost done and need to start working on run.
Give me your opinion on this design I came up with. Bottom 2.5 feet will be hardware cloth with 1.5 ft skirt and the top 3.5 feet will be chicken wire. Ill also have a 2x4 span the length of each wall where the chicken wire and hardware...
Great point on the nesting box. Ill probably go with wall opening and a swinging box.
One main reason I wanted the coop to swing open was so I could also have access towards the back of the cook if needed. It won't be my main way of gathering eggs.
Im gonna have the nest box positioned about a...
It still needs to be somehow attached to the coop lol. I wanted it attached to the side of the coop. Maybe the back but then I would have to move nest box
After drawing some different designs I decided to go with a swinging nest box that opens up. Two hinges will be connected on the 2x4 by the back which is attached to the nest box.
My very first plan was to make that home depot one but I decide i didn't like the layout and wanted more vertical height.
Ill try draw a run up when I get home tonight. What's also difficult to me is how to attach it to the coop.
Now to think of an aesthetically pleasing run. I want it attached the coop on side. Instead of 2 windows on a side itll be a pop door and a window.
I would like it 8x10 with the 8' side along the coop. And at least 6' tall so I can enter it.
I have:
27 PT 2"x4"x8'
8 PT 2"x4"x10'
I also can't...
Okay.
Hopefully will finish it within the next week.
They are about a week old I think. Got them this past Friday and i think they were a few days old.
Move them outside at 4 weeks old?
How warm should the area be under the light?
