    This is what I am currently working on these days. 4x6 on the inside. 2" styrofoam and wood for siding inside and out. No insulation on the floor as it will be sitting on the ground (will have to skirt it I guess). Working on the walls with the gables, the shorts one or done!

    We grew up on a farm that had hot wire around and we figured it out pretty quick... I wouldn't hesitate to fence around if grizzlies were around, especially for your toddler. Following this post as I am getting set up next door (in central Yukon). I only have the floor of the coop built so far...

    How about sitting on the ground with a roof above the entrance? The ground can only get so cold and banking the rest of the coop would help for insulating as well.
