Whoops, no we started with them having the run of the run as well as the coop. Starting tomorrow night I’ll check around dusk to see if they are in... they are smart little things so it probably won’t take them that long to figure things out.

Update: Got everything done yesterday and the chicks are happily living outside! Just wondering, the low for tonight is going to be 9 degrees Celsius (49 F). Is this too cold for them? There are 6, and their coop is insulated and has pine shavings in it, with the door closed off. Will they be ok...
Depends on the winter but generally yes a good amount. We did install a roof cover on it today and we got the ventilation in too! The chicks are happily living outside. I’ll post pictures tomorrow as it is too dark here right now for a good quality one, lol!
Update: Did the whole run yesterday and moved the coop and run into place. Today we’re going to do the ventilation, window and putting more dirt into the run! The chicks should be out by tomorrow!

I think that it is a good idea to have the chicks in the coop while we finish the run. We will get started on the coop ASAP!
No, the run will be stationary. We were just going to do the whole floor wire because width of the roll of wire fits the width of the bottom exactly...

So when I joined a few weeks ago, one of my first posts was about my coop. Weeelll.... I very quickly learned that it was not “the perfect coop” that I had thought it was, lol! It needed ventilation and a window. So we’ve been procrastinating... going on trips and filling weekends...
