But.. but guys, it’s BOTH. There’s nothing “wrong” with the video, it’s operating exactly how it should be. It is android/chrome/byc app or whatever responsibility to account in the coding for the slight difference in video detail..
Eh whatever, I’m having a hard time putting brain to word...
“I guess if you made a giant spreadsheet with working vs non working video’s stats you could narrow it down pretty fast.”
If you really want to put the work in just compare notes of broken old videos vs reuploaded fixed videos. Put them in excel or something and see what the trend is
Way too...
It’s already been reported to YouTube.. and google. I don’t think there’s anything they can do about it. Look up the original HTML5 error message and find tons of forums on it.
Wish I was a bigger nerd so I understood how video formatting worked in relation to JavaScript in webpages.. maybe the...
I never slept :th
So basically we’ve confirmed what I said. Something in the upload process causes it to be read differently and the outdated browser/app has a tantrum. I’m thinking fluke corrupted audio file or a weird compression issue..
Can you post the video details of the copy compared to...

Might try this tomorrow. Note that using the volume bar to “mute” your video through YouTube might not remove the potentially faulty audio file but the other method might
This is scientific method at its best.. or worst. Sigh
Just to clarify I meant mute your actual uploaded video, not just your phone or whatever. I’m not sure if there’s an easy option to “disable audio” or something, sorry, maybe it’s more complicated.
That’s what I’m curious about. We’ve settled it’s an app and chrome issue that can’t really be solved (besides getting another browser) but I’m still wondering what sets the problem videos apart.
I read on a jargon filled coding forum that sometimes HTML5 audio files get corrupted or something...
Well the app is still BYC’s problem. I stand by my theory of them being two separate but related issues.
I didn’t see that FF worked, sorry.
If it’s an outdated chrome version then you should be able to update it.. that’s a browser, not phone hardware. Unless I’m confused.
I kind of want someone with the browser version problem to download another browser and test it..
I also don’t know how to change viewports. It might have more to do with how the video is uploaded (internet quality) than a setting you chose.
I watch a lot of YouTube but I’ve never uploaded...
Okay. Bear with me here.
Regarding app users: I believe there is some coding error that is making the app use flash to run certain YouTube videos
Regarding mobile browser users: I think, along with the app problem, certain users either have a funky update or a PLUG-IN that, again, is causing...
Am I correct in saying that:
ALL android BYC app users cannot see problem video
And
SOME android BYC mobile browser users cannot see problem video
And that’s it?
Its not a YouTube thing for sure. It’s either a user’s issue (plug-in forcing flash, or outdated browser) or an administrator’s issue (coding). I can’t really answer why some videos and not others but I don’t think it rules out anything or points to anything else. I’ll look into the coding side...
