OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THIS THREAD AAAAA!! So I'm like busy 24/7 with studies and all so I haven't been breeding my budgies. It's also peak winter in my country so that's a no go. All the birbies are doing well though! No deaths or anything, some caught a cold but recovered fairly quick. That's all...
sooo heres a bummer
the first egg turned out infertile!! aaaaa!! and the second will hatch tomorrow if it isn't infertile (i didnt check yet and i plan on waiting till tomorrow)
captive breeding and them breeding in the wild is vastly different. in the wild they can breed in as little as 5 months of age but in captivity its better for the male to be over 8 months old at least (over 10 months old ideally) and female to be over 10 months old (a year old ideally)
SO. the previous batch was really weird? one baby hatched but died IMMEDIATELY and all the other eggs were infertile. So I paired up 4 more budgies. So each of them laid 2 eggs each. But the first female REFUSED to sit on her eggs so I gave her eggs to the second female. Those eggs haven't...
My exams will end this week and I'll be fully online again! Just saying I didn't forget about this thread AGAIN (I really didn't, also I'll get full marks in maths yay)
Yes! I came to know about rope toys being bad from the ElleAndBirds youtube channel! None of my birds really chew on the rope toy so it's fine I think. What he does chew is the wood! (the toy had a wooden part before which he destroyed)
pretty sure this female (who laid 3 eggs this time) is the same one in this picture (the blue bird sitting out of thr nest box) I've had sooo many blue budgies I think I forgot who she is
