Well with the cone you’re sorta holding them into the cone by the neck so they don’t flap out where you don’t have to do that with the shackles. Maybe something to look into. I had used shackles cause a neighbor brought them but when I had to buy my own equipment the cone was all I could find...
I use a baby monitor with my flock! I love it, but have to turn it off after 4am due to rooster reasons 😂 I got it because of persistent predators and I was hoping the coop ruckus would wake me up in time to chase off the predator. Of course after buying it, I haven’t had a predator problem since!
I have used both cones and the shackles. They will flap themselves out of the cone unless you hold them by their head. They won't do that with the shackles. BUT we had 4/20 birds break wings while flapping in shackles, so purely personal preference. Shackles seem very slightly faster and more...
