I have yet again more sad news. Carlos is no where to be found and found Pebbles half eaten body. I moved the remainder of my seramas into the other cup wroth the big birds.😭
So I got some sad news. I lost one of my hens (feathers everywhere) and Carlos post all his tail feathers. Think he probably was trying to protect his lady. Also, I had Patricia and Rapunzel go broody and they were collectively 7 eggs. The same day that lost Burnadette, all but 2 eggs...
Went to check on my chick.. it was no where up be found (or evidence). Momma was perching. I have a family of marmots living near by, think they're the culprit. Which explains the missing egg.
I have some sad news. I checked on Pebbles this morning and could only find one egg. Have NO CLUE where the other one is. Searched high and low.. with no signs of shell of baby chick. Bummer :hit
For 2 weeks Pebbles has been sitting on eggs. Though it is a little cold in letting her be. She started off with 5 eggs and 2 are developing! Might have done chicks running around in about a week!
Is been awhile since I've posted an update about the Perps. They've grown nicely and are experiencing their first winter. So far they seem not to mind the cold. I did get them a rooster, Carlos, to keep them company and protection. They didn't like him at first but now they follow him wherever.
Something has changed in one of my hens the last few days. Rapunzel who is in the picture above in the foreground, has become very mean and aggressive. She has turned into a hen that was very sweet to the meanest one that I have! The Perps always enjoyed being petted but Rapunzel will not stop...
