We ordered a carb off of Amazon, too for our Craftsman riding mower. First had a small engine shop take a look before and wasted $100 as they told us there was nothing wrong. Also ordered a new gas line filter. Did the job and that mower has been a champ! I hope yours works out. I cut the lawn...

Wow it's been sooooo long since I was last on here, but glad to catch up on everyone's posts! We FINALLY got our first chickens. We ordered from Meyer Hatchery and got them on June 22. We ordered 2 each of Golden Laced Wyandotte, Buff Orpington, Delaware, Barred Rock, and 1 Splash Orpington, 1...

Oh my, I feel old...forgot the link I mentioned! Also, in reference to the lined ground squirrels...gotta see this! Whether it REALLY works or not? I've never tried it...but I have had great "success" in getting them to TRY and swim in a 5 gallon bucket with 3/4 water and a layer of...

Hi all! Ran across this link from another chicken site, thought it was neat. We are hoping to do blue, black and splash Orpingtons, so this will be helpful to us, maybe to some of you as well. Looks foreign (literally) but just click into the "Choose color" area for both parents, results come...

Jim, was it you who had mentioned an interest in Swedish Flower chickens? I am too lazy to search WAY back ;) Anyway, saw it mentioned by someone that will be at the Neillsville swap, thought I'd check.

Brrrrrr!! Hi all. Just poking in. Still waiting to build a coop. Thinking we will go with the concrete floor. Curious what it'll cost. My guess is the base is about 9 ft x 14 ft. Kids need a play set built first, though. Priorities!

Jim, there was an old playhouse on the foundation a few years back. We moved in last spring but there was just the concrete and some shingles from its roof. Plenty of room for a run near the concrete. Would love to see your set up and get advice on our build. As far a "good builders", well we...

Thanks BigZ, hadn't thought of that. Assumed the coop would be IN the "rectangle". Also thinking about making a little day pen that we can move around and keep them in when we are outside gardening, etc. Hoping it gives them a little variety and excitement to have an outing ;)

That would mean a LOT of marshmallows! We actually have another one closer to the house...could do a fire pit on that one. Lay rock/sand then brick a nice pattern with a center pit....now we are talking!

I am thinking of using this concrete for our coop/run. It's approximately 15 ft by 9 ft. Fill the center to be all concrete? Ring it with hardware cloth to make a fence and put a free standing coop inside of the fencing? I look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas!

Lol, loved the chicken song! Glad I previewed before I shared with my kids ;) I have never showed poultry before, only a few rabbits as a kid. What requirements are there with paperwork, vaccinations, is NPIP required? Going to find a local 4-H here for the kids and read up on the breed standards.

I am near the Wausau area. We would like to start out with some Orpingtons, the kids would like to show them in the fair. Possibly some Delaware, too. I wouldn't mind traveling a few hours to pick them up to avoid sending the chicks by mail. Hoping to find birds that are being bred to standard...

Hi all, just catching up on posts, no chickens yet. Deciding whether to start by ordering chicks or by incubating shipped eggs...any suggestions?

Hello All! New to this site (well, I have been reading, learning, first signed up yesterday) and I am in Wisco, too, Wausau area, although I've lived in Green Bay, Oshkosh and Madison areas, too. Heading to a poultry clinic at the local feed mill this week to learn more! Looking to start up...
