I believe Henry got a mix of your and Dick's birds [?], but the two girls I got from you are quite chatty. I wouldn't call it noisy since the sound level is low, but they are very mumbly grumbly chatty things! By far and away the "noisiest" of my little flock. Always making some kind of...

This is great to hear because my second new egg was laid! It looked so close in color to my BR's [Penelope's] that I at first assumed it was hers. Then in the house I looked at it next to the others and it is not Penelope's! New egg is definitely smaller and a totally different shape. And...

Firstly, thanks for your Congrats on my 1st fav egg! Secondly, sorry!! It is very lightly tinted, a nice off white. Perhaps you'll be happy to see what I post next in reply to keesmom's comment... Lastly, Yipes! I sure hope no one falls and bounces off the shelf! Sheesh. I'll have to...

Christmas cookies galore! Congratulations. Your family will be happy about that! Well, so I know all my other girls' eggs, so I know this new egg is from one of your girls. I would have assumed the older shier girl laid it but the younger one "squats" for me if I go to pick her up or pat...

Your girls sound like they live in a castle! A smorgasbord of roosting options! Ha ha about 4' keeping them where they want to be! I am trying the Sweet PDZ poop board in the coop. I have a 2' wide shelf that's 28" off the ground, and then running above it is the roost--a 3" in diameter...

Hi Keesmom! Thanks for that background. They like to sleep in a pile on the ground like the silkies! Well, tonight I picked them up and placed them on the roost! I did this about 2 hours ago and when I just checked, they were still up there! Baby steps. BTW, one of them laid an egg...

Your girls sound funny! Yes, the nest box is on the ground and the shelf to the roost is about 28" high. I am hoping this isn't too high. I've seen them that high on the dog crate so I know they can do it. I did close the nest box tonight! Hope that starts to help!!

Pretty birds!! Thank you for the advice. How many feet off the ground? I have a shelf that is 28" off the ground with a roost 12" over that. They can fly to the shelf and then hop up. Should this be lower? Thanks!

Do faverolles roost?! It seems like a funny question but my two new ones [~6 months old] sleep on the floor, or worse, in the nest box. They poop all over the nest box and then all the eggs the next day get filthy. How can I get them out of there?? [There's plenty of roost space...
