I have several males or suspected males - 3 for sure. No smalls in this group - they are ginormous little buggers 11 of 11 shipped eggs hatched - so yes they are certainly healthy and vigorous
I have feets photos - boy that was harder than it looked
Fused toes - both feet but the right side (in photo) are completely fused together. Assuming this is a disqualifying attribute?
V shaped - both toes are the same size. It's blurry but you can see the left side toes are the same length...
I have a question about feet. The SOP I have is from 1989 and the illustration of a foot for 5 toed breeds shows the fith toe going straight back and up - however on the illustration for the faverolle breed - it shows the toe going straight back horizontally. Which am I looking for? I have 11...

My EE, BR and Buckeyes were probably my best (as in most per week) non-hybrid layers. Have you given any thought to Buckeyes? We really enjoyed ours but man those girls could fly - even with clipped wings they would be able to easily get 6-8ft up onto the privacy fence or top of the...

LOL - I've had a few (had being the key word ;) ) of those types of hens. I really think not having a rooster puts our little flock at a disadvantage and unfortunately for the Favs, as a docile breed in general, they get the worst of it. I like EEs and true Ameracaunas but they fly...
Keep a close eye on the EE with the faverolles. Mine have been picked on so far by everything but silkies. Hatched some LF cochins with this batch of Favs and hoping they can get along as adults. I cannot have roosters to assist with flock dynamics so that means we really have to keep an eye on...
If you are looking for a quiet, docile bird then you can not go wrong with Faverolles. We're on our 7th year of keeping chickens in our small backyard in the middle of town and these are wonderful birds. They don't try to escape, they're quiet and they lay a lovely medium to large cream/tan egg...
I just hatched 11 Salmon Faverolles - I love this breed - let's hope for lots of females and we can't have roosters :) My last batch (of 7) was 5 males/2 females There are 4 LF BBS cochins in the photo as well. And a couple not in the pic as they were still drying in the incubator.
When I had mine on CL - I used pictures of mine and then a link http://faverollesfanciers.webs.com/ for more info. There are plenty of photos on that website that interested folks could look at via the link. Good luck!
"Both are blue salmon cockerels."
Well shoot - if I can find a non-eating home they will make a nice addition to a flock. Very calm and easy to handle - otherwise they will make a nice meal or two I suppose. They can stick around here a bit longer in any case.
Here are some updated pics of my 2 ( they are 3 weeks and 5 days old)
Captain Obvious - no doubt about gender on this one Please ignore the JG who insisted on photo bombing
This one is still undecided - either a dark pullet or slower growing cockerel - hard to tell but the dark feathering...
Wow - I finally found a breed that has a good temperament, lays a fair amount of eggs, doesn't fly well, I love the look of them and has local breedersI cannot tell you how happy I am right now
Quick question for you all - how well do adult Favs fly? I have a 6ft fence and am hoping not to have to clip wings ( of course I was hoping for all pullets too ). We live in town and escaping chickens isn't always appreciated.
Thanks!
