I was in our woodshop today looking for something or other. I turned to walk out and there is a fluffed up faverolle standing at my feet. She took a step to the side and out fell 10 baby chicks.
She also decided to being a wicked moult while she was MIA. Most of the babies seem to be hers-...
Just have to pop in and say- I had 14 fav eggs shipped from Texas- via Fedex- and I now have 12 chicks! Best hatch rate ever for me (on shipped eggs). Who knew?

Hey, Amy. Finally giving in to the Faverolle fever, huh None of us can resist the cheeks.
Yeah- after that Wheaten Am x Fav hatched- I need to get myself a boy for some pure chicks. I think I'm getting some bantam fav eggs this week
Is Jamie McCallum on BYC? I just got some eggs from them shipped from TX. LOTS of extras! I have a broody fav hen that acted like she won the lottery when I gave her a few.
Also- how are they as broodies? Similar to cochins? I haven't been able to break her or find a spot she liked for the...

I think I recognize that girl! Is that Esme? Except she now has feathers on her back and looks much better! Hope she makes you some great EE babies. At least they should have magnificent beards!
Janelle (from TN) got her at a swap- I think the one in KY. She's so flipping cute! I...

If you only have salmons, then I would say your other roo got in there and you got a black chick. Yes the 5h toe is dominant. But we do get some missing them.
I posted this on another thread too, but one of my broodies just hatched some 5-toed chicks that are 3 generations removed...
Hi all! I just wanted to share a pic of this girl that NellaBean picked up at a swap for me. I think it was in KY? Anyway- she has the best beard ever! Going to make some great EEs with her

post a pic might help us out a little better. sometimes one person would catch things the rest of us wouldn't through just a description.

One of the fav chicks I got was a bit orangey from day 1. Now it is much darker/red on the back and the belly looks like it's mostly blue. Does this mean it was sexed wrong and I have a roo? They hatched April 26th.
I got my baby girls today! They are so fat & fluffy- one of them looks like she can barely see over her cheeks!
These girls will be for my splash wheaten ameraucana roo for an EE project. Wasn't too worried about pedigree, so I got them from Meyer (MPC) I have to say I'm really happy with them!
I have some baby fav girls from Meyer shipping out tomorrow! I know they probably aren't super quality, but they are for an EE project. I have a splash wheaten ameraucana roo:weee, and am hoping for some blue super-bearded offspring
I talked to Meyer today. They will start hatching fav chicks on March 29th. You can get as few as if you're by a major city, and you pay express shipping.

Too funny! I have an Australorp hen like that too. We call her Frenchy because of the big floppy comb. Good to know that you can have more than one roo and they get along.
Do the blue salmon favs come in standard? or just bantam?
More pics please!!!!!
