When I saw those LF Favs at Monroe--they were HUGE! WAY bigger than the lines I had tried to work with a few years back...and SOOO pretty...I think the Roo won Continental? Anyway, I wish I had the right environment to keep the LF Favs.

Quote: I lost the little blue roo today. So now I'm back to just having two pullets....do you want them? I will be selling them...no need to have two pullets taking up space w/o a roo and it's too hard to keep everyone alive.... Yeah, I'd take them for sure, just not sure how I'd get...

Quote: All bearded birds have a harder time in the heat. When mine start panting they get ice water in a shallow pan so they can drink or stand in it if they choose (rubber grain pan) and their runs get hosed down. When it gets really hot they get a mister over their run. I've heard of...

Quote: Given that we are going on our 25th above 100 day, I definitely want to make sure they don't all keel over in such heat. This is an extreme summer for sure, but still... I have lost 3 this week...and it's not even hit 90 until today....

Well, I lost the barred cockerel & a blue salmon pullet today. I guess it was too hot? They had water & food and it was maybe 85 degrees in the coop...with the door open and the fan going? No one else seems to be too hot? I think I might lose my blue boy as well. DH already dug me a hole. I...

Quote: Your females are what I was looking to get. Oh well, when you want to be guaranteed the best you should go through a breeder I guess. I do like this hen and hopefully she will lighten up more as she ages. What color are her legs? Some hatcheries are offering "mahogany" Faverolles?

I took some pics of my juvenile bantam favs tonight....they are up in a bantam "bin" and my 36-week preggo butt could not reach them to get them done & photo each one... I have two cockerels & three pullets. Both of the cockerels have very odd coloring? Or do they usually look like that...

I still have 5.5 left.... one blue salmon cockerel, one salmon cockerel and three pullets. The 1/2 of one is the one & only chick I had hatch from a swap and it's not doing well. I am not sure what's wrong with it but I've been having to hand feed/water it since it hatched last weekend...I don't...

Chickie'sMoma : i really think some favs prefer to be with their own breed or very gentle breeds like marans. i have found that my bantam cochins can be intimidating even though they are actually smaller than the favs! i have a couple of girls that are so fearful of the others that they see me...
