I hatched out six salmon faverolles in April. Upon hatching three were solid yellow, two had the stripes, and one had just a splotch of dark on its neck. The solid yellows all were males. The two with stripes and one with the splotch were females. I know that's not the norm but it makes me...
Thank you - yes, I do love Bruno's coloring - the deep salmon/mahogany is so rich. I wasn't sure if that was preferred but it suits my own. I dont know much about combs (except what I read), but Pierre has an extra point but neater blade. Somehow Pierre's toes pic didn't post so here that is...
I edited my above post to include a better view of Bruno's comb. Counting points to compare, I think Pierre has an extra, but I'm unsure whether to count the one on front of the blade. ?
I have roosters of all different breeds. I have one other sf/ee roo that I keep for sentimental reasons - last egg from a favorite hen I lost- he looks like a fav roo with a pea comb (not for breeding) just a sweet pet. The rest of my roos are pure but are not faverolles - RIR, marans, silkie...
My six faverolles boys are now 18 weeks old and I need to decide which one to keep. I have narrowed it down to two and I would love the help of this group to point out the good/bad so I can choose! I'd love your input. I do have others with blacker beards, but they have less fluffy beards and...
Thank you mame1616 - I can't wait now til morning to go take a closer look. I do know they all have 5 toes with good separation to the leg - no web. The fourth and fifth toes look sooooo long. They've had nice full beards since hatch. These two guys are very friendly - two of the lighter...
My BA hen hatched 7 faverolles eggs for me 9 weeks ago - she was an amazing sitter and did great raising them. Six boys, one girl... you guys who helped me were 100% correct. Is there a place online with photo examples of what is good/bad for this breed? I only know very basic info and I'm...
Not sure if this helps - this was mine at six months just about when she started laying as well. We lost her to a raccoon a couple weeks later. Not a great photo of her but I don't have many front shots.
I may need to keep a light and a dark then. Uh oh. Definitely will need more girl eggs next time. I was lucky then Fancy - I got three of your light boys and three of your dark boys :) I'm looking on the bright side, lol. Still amazed with the 100% hatch rate - very robust babies!
That's what I was thinking of doing. Hopefully I can find homes for some too, but they'll definately be kept around at least through the summer. I'll post some pics later when it's time to decide. I will want one for breeding...but he'll only have one SF girlfriend. haha.
Hi everyone! Haven't posted here in a long while but I'm looking for opinions on the sex of these chicks. My broody hatched 7 faverolles a little over 3 weeks ago. I have 3 that are black chested boys. One pale salmon girl. And three that look like this...
