Hatched about mid July, this one is the only one of the batch of this color. Thinking a rooster but what's the color? In the incubator I had LF and bantam.. I am not sure but could be one of the 4 bantam that hatched. Not really that much smaller than the other rooster chicks that I know for...

The description you give makes me wonder that if in the future you may consider hatching shipped eggs of this breed if you need more. I have recently hatch another batch of LF Salmon Fav's and have 9 peeps in the brooder. I should be able to sex them soon. I have another batch going...
In the group of chicks that hatched this past week I have a LF Fav and I believe a Bantam Fav that each have a dark back. The one is very prominent the other a much smaller spot. I better keep notes and a photo diary to chronicle the change in appearance from peep to maturity. The very dark...
Hatch started last Saturday and was done by last night. It was a mixed group of eggs so that was the reason for the early additions. It was nerve wracking but still got my hair and the brooder is a mix of Large Fowl and bantam Favs with a few other friends that hatched with them.
I have a dozen LF Salmon Fav in the incubator at the moment. Expected hatch data is Wed. This is Fanny, I am hoping she will have some pullet friends from the hatch. She is the lone prima donna pullet from the May hatch. There are 4 cockerels from that group that keep her company.

With horses it's dominant and is a masking gene that will cover the horses natural...
Peter I don't know you personally but your heartfelt description of the situation and the feelings for your beautiful bird family come through in your words of loss and I am so sorry. Hopefully the vet can help you devise a plan where you can keep your fledglings recently hatched and they can...

That is such a wonderful facility. I always enjoy stopping and looking. It's nice to hear there is also a purpose to their project of adding live chickens besides tourist interest. Now I'll have another reason to visit They'll be like family.

I am so undecided! There sit the incubators all quiet and my little voice says to put them away... In the brooder are 7 adorable Fav peeps. I keep thinking I need one more batch
I just think all of my chicks are so cute and can't tell roo from hen at this point. I am happy that I can raise them all up and decide later who is a rooster. If anyone wants to see they are broadcasting on their peep channel.

The Faverolles I hatched a week ago are in the brooder and very busy. They have a few hatching buds to keep them company. No real close ups but its fun
