Thank you for your help. I certainly don't expect perfection! We have a lot of imperfection from hatchery birds and from show stock, but have always been able to pull out one or two that were worth breeding for future purposes. One out of eight ducks from show quality stock was worth showing and...
These are the two that she took to the fair. They did well at the Nebraska State Fair (4-H, not open class). Granted, there were only five birds, but my daughter is happy with these birds. They both have five toes on each foot and it never occurred to me before this discussion that they would...
OK, pictures as promised. This is of one of the ones with the wrong number of toes (five on one foot, four on the other). Other than that, she looks like a nice bird to me. I don't know faverolles as well as my daughter but I know one of them she thought looked nicer than the one she took to the...
I'm not sure, but I think wheaten? Going totally off memory there. I should be able to get some pictures tomorrow afternoon.
I'm pretty sure their leg color is correct. Why I'm suddenly second guessing myself, I don't know, but the toes seem the only issue.
And no, no one is laying yet...
Thank you so much. I will get some pictures. To me, the color looks good, but I'm no expert. Pretty new to the breed and totally new to deciphering standards. From the hatch, we got seven with five toes on each foot and six with four toes on one or both feet. Not all survived the summer (dog...
Crazyhen, I would totally work with the breeder we tried to get live chicks from again. The post office mess up was not at all her fault and she filed everything with the post office so we could get refunded for the loss. She's in FL which looks like it would be a lot closer to you. We're in NE...
That's what I was afraid of. These actually come from a breeder here who has such beautiful birds. The explanation I have is that an Ameraucana may have jumped the fence so some or all may be crosses. The nice ones actually won best of breed and reserve best of breed at the state fair, but I'm...
Genetics question:
I have a salmon faverolle cockerel a really nice pullet, two so-so pullets and one with a split tail. I also have some that are apparently crossed with Ameraucanas (they have four toes on one or both feet).
What are the genetics behind the toes? I'm wondering what to...
Yes, mis-sexings are part of the business. Most hatcheries only guarantee 90% accuracy so one in ten is likely to be a cockerel. And I don't know if they do this differently for corporate accounts, but any time I've ordered from a hatchery, they've thrown in some extra cockerels as packing...
Sort of forgot to ever come back since we emailed back and forth, but I just wanted to let you know that yes, that was me, and to say that we are very happy with your communication with us! Looking forward to more eggs when the weather cools off a bit, but the five toed birds are turning out to...
We just hatched our first batch of salmon faverolles from eggs we ordered and almost half of them have four toes on one or both feet. I know this is a defect for a show bird, but at what rate would you expect this to happen? Six of thirteen birds seems high, but I am also pretty new to the...

It's in Dutch. I wish it were in German...then I could read it. As it is, I can only sort of tell what it's saying. But if I understood it correctly, the salmon favorelles is the most popular breed in the Netherlands?

Rock N' Faverolles :
I would have chicks or eggs for sale in the spring of both Large Salmon and White Faverolles. I live in Iowa so it may be close enough for you to pick them up, or I would ship them to you.
David
Cool! Picking them up would be nice. Do you have any pictures?
Does anyone on here sell large salmon faverolle eggs or chicks? We don't need them right away. Fall or next spring is fine, but they aren't all that easy to get a hold of so we're trying to make arrangements as soon as possible.
My daughter is interested in showing them so we prefer show quality.
