Wow, I don't have any that are as dark as your cockerel. Guess that is why I am confused. I thought the difference would be more obvious. Out of six chicks I have no dark ones, just two that look like the bottom one I posted.

You feed them plain yogurt to help with pasty butts? They all seem to be getting it. I've been washing with warm water.

Interesting that you would mention that. I just checked them a few minutes ago and two out of the six had a little pasty butt starting. They are cleaned up now, but I will have to keep an eye on that. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks everyone. I am really pleased with the chicks and the hatch rate. As soon as I can tell the girls from the boys I will be picking two pullets to keep for myself and the others will be offered for sale. Any tips or special care needs for faverolles chicks?

I had six of my seven bantam salmon faverolles eggs hatch. The seventh one never pipped. These were shipped eggs so I am really happy with the six.

Thanks. I am trying to find something to do other than stare at the incubator. One is pipped at the wrong end of the egg, so I am really watching that one.

Today is day 21 for my bantam salmon faverolles eggs. So far 4 pips out of seven eggs!! I can't wait for them to start hatching.
