    The EE braggers thread!!!

Awwww, such cute babies! Yes, they are so colorful as chicks and adults.........and then they give us the loveliest eggs too! I think EE eggs put the perfect touch in our egg basket. Here is a picture of some of the variety we get from our little flock. Only one EE is laying so far, but her...

I'm super happy that Angel finally laid her first egg. Angel is an all-white, 27 week old Easter Egger. Her egg is a pretty pale blue with white speckles. (A little washed out from the camera flash)

Gifa, your lap chicken is so cute. And your profile chicken is adorable too.

I'm leaning toward thinking it WAS MystyBlue, my silkie! By this time next month Angel the white EE should be laying those pretty blue/green eggs. Thank you-I love those little fluffy-butts too. Yes, my Buff Orp really outdid herself with that one! Buffy's eggs are usually just medium size...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Both EE have small, (still flat) pea combs. My LF hens cannot get into the silkie pen where I found this pullet egg. My Buff Orpington layed the other egg in the LF coops nesting box...It was even big for her. So, since my EE have a pea comb and slate legs, does that mean neither of them...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

I need your expert EE's help. I've found a mystery pullet egg...... I was SO excited to find a first egg in the silkie pen today (pictured below with my Buff Orps egg). However, I'm not sure the little beige egg belongs to my 6 month old silkie pullet because my 19 week old Easter Eggers like...

They both look like girls to me. The top one might just be closer to laying eggs, which is why her comb might be bigger and redder. They are very pretty - Enjoy them!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!How excited you must be to have 4 "first eggs" in one day!! Thank you for posting a picture of the eggs AND the chickens. Eliza looks the most like my 2 EE's who are 16 weeks old. Their combs are nearly as red and almost the same size as Eliza-which gives me hope that...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Well, I don't know if anyone is interested since this involves a BO and RIR, but: -My Buff Orpington used to lay an occasional pink egg when she first started laying. It was sort of a putty color. Her eggs are more of a light brown now. -Also, my RIR layed an egg that was lavender with white...

No, it is just a regular one. The Genesis IS more automatic, but also more expensive.

I got a Hova Bator with egg turners and fan. I think it holds more (42eggs) than what you want, but it was a pretty good value and has worked great on 3 batches so far. The most I've had in at one time was 30 eggs. I actually let them hatch in another Hova Bator without the fan (but maybe I...

I'm so sorry about the losses you've experienced. I can think of so many times (this last year) when my chickens were the best comfort and therapy. I look forward to them growing up and laying eggs. Hmm, maybe I only have a month to wait...we shall see.

    The EE braggers thread!!!

I bought hatching eggs from a local breeder. We gathered the eggs right out of the nesting boxes and I took them home and popped them in the 'bator"! 5 out of 5 eggs hatched. It was the easiest incubation, ever! Three turned out to be cockerels and were re-homed but they only cost me $1 per...

Thank you for the information. I guess I'll be waiting a little longer but at least we'll know what to look for.

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Speaking of first eggs, Everyone ...How old are EE when they start to lay? Do their combs grow and get red a week or so before POL like other breeds? Do EE start doing the egg squat like other breeds? Does anyone know if EE are generally smaller hens than other "large fowl" breeds? I've got...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

So true...My husband is always pointing out the similarities of my chickens to "raptors". Even my sweet silkies turn ferocious for food! LOL-Maybe I should have thrown it into the middle of the flock and allowed them a nice breakfast? Naa, I don't want my egg layers eating rats !!!!

How about Sugar and Ginger for these last two ladies! Your white one looks exactly like my white EE. I named mine Angel because she got the prettiest wings as a chick. I also have a black EE, so probably should have named them Ebony and "Ivory" but Angel stuck!

I just want to brag on my little EE, Ebony. (I think) Soon after letting everyone out of the coop this morning, all the chickens were on high alert letting me know something was wrong....except for Ebony!!!! She was pecking the heck out of a baby rat!!!! It was so funny! She would give it a...

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to clean juicy, sticky fig off EE cheek muff feathers? I'm glad they found a treat hiding under the cool fig tree, but my EE and Welsummer have hardened/tacky fig stuck on their face feathers. I've tried to sponge it off to no avail?Help!
