Aww, he's cute. :) I don't remember which thread it was on but someone on byc posted a video of a day old chick crowing! It was pretty crazy. I've never had one crow before 12 weeks.
My first roster didn’t crow until he was almost 4 months old, I think they can take longer if they aren't raised around older rosters. They'll get it eventually though!
And that is exactly why I'm not allowed to go to the feed store by myself anymore. ;) Last time I came home with 11 chicks and my hubby started questioning my sanity.
White Beard lays a green egg, Black Beard lays a blue egg and Gray Beard is the unlucky one that didn't get the blue gene and she lays a tan/almost white egg. We love her anyway.
Ok, these 3 are from Crackle
White Beard in the middle of this photo was the yellow chick.
Black Beard is the chicken on the lower left and she was the black/brown chick, Gray Beard is the one on the right in between the Buff Brahma and the Buff Orpington and she was the chipmunk chick...
Aww, she's so cute with her bra! :) My girl, White Beard, seems to be doing ok despite all my worrying. She's laid 2 more golf balls and seems happy.
I was thinking the same thing. Pan fry usually means roo.
Thanks for replying, I realize most people haven't had this problem. I'm starting to be very worried that she is an internal layer because for the past 2 days she's been going in the nesting box for an hour or 2 but not laying anything, and I know she's not broody, I've had broody chickens and...
I have a year old EE that recently had a bout of crop impaction. It took her almost a month to start laying again afterwards, I was starting to think she was an internal layer, but her eggs went from large and blue to almost white and golf ball sized. Has anyone had this happen to their EE and...
I couldn't help myself, they were selling "Americana's" at the feed store. I am a sucker for those fluffy cheeks, sure hope my husband doesn't kill me! I should never be allowed to go to the feed store alone during chick days...
Not trying to judge or anything, but wow, I would be terrified to let my chickens sleep outside! They are so vulnerable at night when they can't see anything!
