    I can't say that the chicken bug goes away. I started last July with 10 and idk how many I'm up to. And I have 26 chicks in a brooder. I have 2 porcelain D'Uccles and 13 silkie chicks. I love bantams lol What kind are the 5 you ordered?

    You are welcome:) the more you raise of a breed the easier it gets to tell the gender. Your chickens are beautiful! Maybe next spring I'll look into getting a few more colorful Cochin chicks.

    The ones I have I know the sex by 4-5 weeks 100%. The males comb develops fast. The comb gets plump and starts to redden. This one is 4 weeks old. See the comb? Now look at this black one on the far left. It's about 7 weeks in this pic. See how developed the comb is? I ended up with 4...
