Man, I wish you were near me! I have 5 of the sweetest Dom cockerels that I'm afraid will end up in our stew pot. Can't sell them and the only people who want them only want them for their own dinner table!
Yes! The Doms are definitely flock rulers, but the pecking order was arranged without any problems. :) Our SFHs would be much more cuddly without the Dominiques pushing them back when we're out there with them, but after we lose our extra cockerels I think they'll be up in front and more social...
Here's three of my SFH gents with a couple of my Dom guys. I really, really love how my darkest SFH cockerel is growing up (middle)! Does anyone else have similar dark looking roos with pictures to share of how they matured? These are 13-14 weeks.
My sweet little ladies are looking nice, too.
I'm going to have two cockerels that will need homes in a few weeks when I can decide which two of my four I'm keeping. It's VERY hard, they're all beautiful and super sweet!
In AR.
It's been neat watching my two black and yellow chicks feather out and change! I was a bigger fan of the greyer one at first, but dislike how heavy his comb and wattles are looking at such a young age. We'll see! They still have a lot of growing to do. Here's an shot from a couple weeks ago (of...
I've never dealt directly with GFF, but seeing their response to the bird and knowing that all I've ever heard in regards to barring in SFH is a big fat NO... That's disheartening.
I thought the same when I saw the barring because I've never seen that on any pure SFHs... But I'm not knowledgable enough (YET) to say for sure. He sure is handsome, regardless.
Eek, yeah. The barred is a no-go :( Handsome fella, though! Wonder if the woman had any rogue Barred Rocks around her place. ;) Or is that a rose combed Dom? My phone won't load the picture big enough and my glasses are juuuuust out of reach, lol.
Thank you! He's a sweetheart, too. From what I can tell, it's going to be hard to choose the Roo that'll stay. Lord knows I'll have plenty to choose from, lol.
