Jeremy,
OMG, you might actually be right. This bird has had me totally stumped. It did not cross my mind that it could be a MFL because they coloration is so completely different. I will take a better look at him today. If it ends up not being a swede, I think I will need to hide my head...
I hatched him. Its kinda a funny story because I gave him to my "rooster guy" and when I brought him more roos I could not believe how cool he had gotten so I took him back.
Actually, he is pure Swede. He certainly has a different color pattern than most which is why I decided to keep him as a breeder. I also really like his clean yellow legs.
Regarding Leg Color, the amount of green grass they have access to has a huge impact on leg color. Notice the color of this boys legs. He was put on grass at 8 weeks and it shows. He si now older and in a breeding pen with limited greens and I expect his leg color to fade. I will take...
They are yellow. Hard to tell in these pictures. Here are a couple pictures of them when they were younger. I will try to get better adult pictures when the weather is nicer. I took top shots because I like their color pattern, especially when side by side.

Looks like a roo to me too. If a roo the saddle feathers should be coming in soon. If you separate the feathers in the saddle region do you see any thin shiny feathers? If there are more dominant roos in the flock this little guy's maturity may be stalled out
I'd get rid of him. I sure would not give him an opportunity to do it a third time. There are too many nice roosters out there to worry about an aggressive one, and a rooster could do serious damage to a 2 year old.
It will be fine. Chicks can loose a remarkable amount of blood and still be oaky. I once punctured a chicks juggler when vaccinating and I swore it was going to bleed to death. I called the vet, and she informed me that chicks can loose up to 1/3 of their blood and survive. Holy Moly. She...
Sorry, no clue!!! I hatched 20+ Swedes chicks in Oct/Nov as potential breeders for my flock and since I already had all the roo I wanted I gave all the boys to my friend to grow them out and process. This boy was picked up at 6-8 weeks. Sorry I don't even remember what he looked like...
This is definitely his dad and I suspect one of these two ladies in the picture below is his mom. Last year, they only other hens I had were black mottled so I doubt they threw him, but I guess their is always a chance.
Oh, I just re-read this and saw "That Color" No, I don't have any other birds this color. His daddy had a red mille fleur chests and I have light brown mottled hen in my flock. I suspect he hatched from the two of them. Unfortunately, I can't hatch more from this cross as his daddy...
