Marc, I'm in awe, as usual! I'm thinking about a trip down to visit in a month or so, as I've finally gotten a break from the madness around here scheduled. I'll take a bunch of pics and upload them for you when I come!
I think I have a few things to bring you, too!!
Agreed- the yellow is a bad thing...I just had it pop up in a very surprising breeding, myself! No idea where it came from, as I've had my stock for years. I'd see if Julie can approximate a related Blue or Splash boy who MAY possibly have the gene from the same source as the one you had...
Hi everyone! I finally got my part for my laptop and I'm back on the air...it's been brutal only having my phone for online work.
It looks like everyone has some lovely birds growing away, and as spring approaches I expect the frenzy to erupt again...I've just built a cabinet incubator because...

Why would you use buffs in porcelains? Its Lavender Jubilee.
Jubilee have the Mahogany in there- I'm looking for the buttery version. Just my own preference. I've been working on it for some time and prefer that to the pinker color. I would like to have the more robust shape.
Marc, they are coming along so nicely!
I can't believe the fluff they have as juveniles, and can't wait to see what they shape into as adults. My birds all look so...American...in comparison.
The thing I can't get over is the shape even before they have filled-out. My birds don't start to look...
OK, folks...I'm done in by the temptation finally, and want some English Orp eggs for the 3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatchalong. Has anyone got any eggs to spare that they can send out this week? PM me for trades or prices.
I will need them sent by Weds or Thurs. I'll settle for a few eggs, too-...
pips&peeps :
No, it's a color. I found a picture of one, but it is tiny and you cannot see the details:

Someone tried to explain the color and from what I gleaned I think it may be a splash blue laced red, but I am...
pips&peeps :
Hey all, while I was perusing the internet today, I found an orpington color in the UK called harlequin. What is this color? And does anyone have any pictures????
I thought that was a duck?

If you are interested in a large fowl, contact the current importers and sellers and see if they have any oversized birds available.
I have a few I bought from Marc and I must say they are really on the large side. I posted a picture a few pages back of my oldest...
Joy, it's nice to see you back! I'm absolutely sure you and Marc are correct in the statement that these birds will fill way out- clearly if they aren't laying yet there's more junk to add to the trunk!
Henney Penny, I haven't weighed any mature English Orps (just hugged them but had to leave...
Here's the really notable fact about those pics:
Those birds are all juveniles.
I couldn't believe it. All too young to be laying, LEGGY and LEAN!!!!!
I was aghast, because what in the world will they look like when they've FILLED OUT?!?!?
I have never wanted Buffs for anything other than an...
Just as a bit of eye candy, I thought I'd show you a few of the pics I took when I went on a field trip to Heirloom Orpingtons:
If it hadn't been storming and horrific, I'd have gotten a ton of photos, but I did get some.
I came home with a couple of birdies and I'm really looking...
Here at my place it has been the Summer of the Cockerel.
I have hatched 13 FBCM cockerels and ONE pullet. I've hatched 7 Isabel and Porcelain Orps and ONE pullet, who was nabbed by a raccoon in DAYTIME in the middle of town. I've hatched 6 bantam Cochin cockerels and ONE pullet. I'm not even...
Buff-Laced Orps!?!?! I'm going to keel over if you keep bringing in these birds! I will be considering a move to Oklahoma so I can hug them whenever I feel like it!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah - rub it in Jeremy
I'd like to see the pictures too MommaOrp.
I'm telling you, everyone should just start sending me eggs if they want girls. I'll hatch 'em out and then ship the chicks back and voila! In a few weeks everyone will have a flock of pretty pullets...
