They look blue. So one of the parents must be a blue (or splash).

Thank you, but we are overrun with BBS orders right now and won't have any until around May. Try Greg. :)

We are starting on a lavender project this year. We have two black pullets who are very "low" in shape and a lavender roo who is too leggy. His feather quality is not too bad other than his tail. Depending how the offspring turn out we may breed back to dad or breed to each other to get the 25%...

That is a HUGE comb for three months, but I have had several grow into a comb that size. My current grow outs are 4 months and have almost no hint of a comb. Also, a very cute goat in the background!

As someone who owns birds from Vickie they do glow. They are definitely NOT the washed out and pale buff you see too often in any Buff color bird. Also, the pic looks different on my computer screen and my phone.

My Reds have to start laying first! They are 6.5 months right now. The Partridges are just not enjoying the humidity and have quit laying 6 weeks after they started.

We are going to work on it next year in Reds and Partridges. Keep the chicks with the least leg stubs at hatch, and then do the same in the next generation etc.

Greenfire even put that on their auctions - that they had leg stubs. It can be bred out. With colors like BBS, White etc I wouldn't use a bird with leg stubs. With Partridge, Red etc most breeders have no choice.

This is probably on our project list for 2014 but we need a coop first... I love the Porcelain d'Uccle pattern.

This is an interesting point. In my BBS pens i had three girls I ended up pulling from the pen because of over-wear. The two I pulled about a month ago are growing new feathers back already. The first who I pulled about three months ago hasn't even begun to regrow her feathers. Now I am going to...

Wow. We have some blacks that are s-l-o-w to feather in but nothing quite like this. The worst of ours got over the ugly stage at about 9 weeks.

The girl who is laying was mid-December. The girl who isn't laying was mid-November. On the topic of Partridges, does ANYONE have an older (3-4 months) Partridge rooster? We are looking to have two breeding pens and can only seem to grow out pullets. I am not complaining that we only grow out...

Can we please make this clear... It's Orpington NOT Orphington. It's my #1 pet peeve... To everyone where I live it's an "Orphington" and being English its not. Some breeders will ship chicks but not in this heat. We will ship beginning September again unless the weather cools down before that.
