I mentioned this on another thread, but thought it's worth mentioning here as well.......I've done this for years and saved a ton of money. I have taught myself how to make planters. Therefore when there is a funeral (or really any need for floral arrangements), I don't waste money ordering...

WELCOME TO BYC!!! Every year I plant a row or two of carrots in the garden. I have yet to get a good or even fair harvest. I am going to try the tire method. I have used the stacking tire method with potatoes and got a fair amount of potatoes. Not great, but fair. We just pile on...

Service is good. I rarely don't have service. Most people who come to my home complain they can't get service. We live in the country. Cincinnati, Ohio area.

Mine is a prepay. I buy iwireless cards. Phone is a Kyocera. I have had issues with it. They said they cannot change the caller id name because the telephone # used to belong to someone else.....???? But I didn't pick my number. Makes no sense to me, but it doesn't matter anymore. I use...

In todays times, the internet is a definite necessity. I know, I lived without it as a child and I turned out fine. Right? But, most recently I went on a job search-career path change-for the betterment of our family. It took me over 6 months to find a job. I was not being picky either...

Ours too is all tied together. Cable, phone and internet. Daughter goes to public school, but needs internet for a lot of projects. Waiting at the library for net access is not an option for us. As far as the post by @Old rooster , I'd say you are lucky. They come out and inspect our sewer...

Never owned a new car, or had a car loan, or home loan or any type of loan. I don't own credit cards either @perchie.girl . If we can't pay cash, we don't need it. Our home may not be elaborate, but we are working on it to make it what we want. We still have the monthly bills which I'd...

I was only going to get corid to have on hand if needed. I have never used it, and also never given my chickens any meds other than wormers. Our dog tested positive for hook worm last summer and the chickens also got it. It was very visible in their poo. Other than that I do believe that if...

I have noticed that feed stores and supply stores have really limited their supplies on a lot of animal medicines. When I asked the local feed store owner for some corid, he told me the feds are cracking down because we (farmers) self treat and don't take the animals to a vet, they want to...

That is good to know. We are new to raising rabbits. And I had not heard that their nails need trimmed. Our rabbits are raised for meat-so some we won't have to worry about. But I will keep an eye on the breeding stock.

My grandfather owned a 100 head dairy cow farm when I was a little girl. There were a lot of hoofs to trim! If you do not trim them properly, this also will affect them. The feet will be uneven and they get injured by twisting their ankle or such. They will kick at you when they are hurting...

That has happened to me a few times as well. Very aggravating. Now, what I don't sell, we donate to a local church food pantry. The people there are so appreciative. Feels good to give for a good cause.

Yes @hennible , I am cross posting So about being frugal....I bought some mistinted paint and transformed my laundry room that was stuck in the 1980s to a nice updated look. The paint was nearly $40 a gallon. I paid $5 per gallon each x2. Before: After:

Pasta is definitely the cheapest around here. I always check the clearance section at the grocery and buy up any dented boxes or cans. They mark them down 1/2 off. I get a box of spaghetti that will be used in 2 nights dinner for 50cents for 3 people. I know it's not the healthiest, but once...

That is a good idea. I buy coffee whenever it's on sale and put it in the deep freezer. I was told the freezer is more efficient when full, or near full. Mine has 6 or so tubs of coffee, frozen foods, and I also freeze my seeds so they don't start the germination process.

That is awesome! Kids are not taught enough these days. My 9yr old daughter thinks dishes are fun if she has the wand scrubber. And laundry is a breeze for her as long as we have the pods. Works for me!
