Talk about luck. Out of 6 basque chicks, I got 1 too and 5 pullets! Now I need to find someone to trade roos with me. Not sure if its considered good to breed brother to his sisters.
Very cool. Now I got to wait for my two smaller ones to get big enough to see what sex they are. They are only a week old. All these guys are Greenfire lines. I might have to trade a hen for another hen from someone else so I'm not inbreeding these guys,
Since it was nice out, I got a few pictures of the older Marraduna Basque's.
All four together
The lighter chick
All three same colored chicks. One has a black tail
All again. Lighter towards the bottom left.
Question. I have 5 Marraduna Basque hens and 4 of them are about 4-5 weeks old now. 3 of them are more red and 1 is very light compared to the rest. Does this mean I have 3 boys and 1 girl or is it the other way around? I'll post pictures of them today.
Two more chicks hatched yesterday. Very cute if I say so myself :)
I will post pictures of the older chicks. They have some nice colors on their wings.
Got 6 eggs last monday. Two had blood rings in them :(. Four eggs have lively babies moving around. The women who I got the eggs from gave me Four more eggs to replace the one orig. egg that aborted. I'm very greatful she gave me Four eggs. So I have Four more eggs cooking in the bator. Fingers...
Finally jumped on the Marraduna Basque band wagon. Picked up a lovely batch of a half dozen eggs from a really nice women name Jill. I'm hoping all eggs will hatch :)
Due to hatch April 8th!
I'd love to hatch and raise a couple of these birds. I have so many breeds, but I'd love to add a dual purpose breed in with my flock. Someone from Quakertown has eggs for sale and I think it's SBR. :)
