I thought it was a discussion of how unusual Faverolles are...sorry no more input unless it is specifically about Derp. My misunderstanding.

Just sharing something I recently read.... Did you all know that Faverolles are prone to become over weight? If confined in a run for instance. I notice that my one pure Faverolle hen, Honey is ALWAYS hungry. If Im sitting out with the flock she will come peck me on my back to get my attention...

Here is my little one all fluffed up. and again with her sib climbing up my shirt. They stayed with me today because mama wanted to take the three older sibs out for a jaunt and they just werent up to it. They slept most of the time and were a joy to babysit.

This little one is doing fine and Brownie, well she doesnt even miss the one. The other three are a little older and definitely bigger so they can keep up with her. I hatched another Faverolle mix(fifth toes each foot!) this evening in my shirt. Things were getting a little too hectic in the...

I finally had to take one of the three chicks away from my derpy Brownie. She kept running off and leaving it behind. The first day she took her babies out of the box she didnt stop, not once. I stayed with her the entire day to make sure and those poor little babies could hardly keep up with...

I have a derpy Faverolle mix. She is also a frizzle feather. I call her Brownie because she was my first ever brown chick. So with the last brood hatched by another hen she would follow the mama and babies around as if to be helping care for the babies. I called her the big sister. Anyway...

I second that. I have three Faverolles, one pure hen and a roo and hen that are mixes. They are intimidated by the others but manage. I had a beautiful full Faverolle Blue Salmon roo who died Im sure due to the stress he experienced by being chased from the flock by another rooster I have. I...

I fashioned a foot support for a month old chick with a weak foot. It was cut from the side and bottom of a plastic container. It was stiff but had a little flex. I secured it with duct tape, the side was cut as a thin strip and it was still connected to the bottom part that I cut in shape...

They are darling, thanks for noticing. They remind me of gray bunnies so I names the first one Bunny and Im still waiting for name for the others. One has an asymmetric gray spot over the left eye and another has a red head. Im sure some names will come base on that.

My half Faverolle-half orpington hen Karen gave me three gray Faverolle (yep I checked for those fifth toes and they are there). I wonder if they will look at all like lavender Faverolles when they mature.

Here is Blondie with her sibs and foster mama. I may have been that woman you spoke of. Chickie has backed way off on the shoes though he still does it a bit with them. He has a large harem of hens now so he is busy with them more than my shoes.

I was originally naming him Easter but I couldnt resist....his name is Bondie. All the other chicks are black and white maybe with a little brown. Same mother, Karen, but being raised by my mothering hen, Woodstock They are all five at least a quarter Faverolle though Blondie my be a...

I hatched this little fella today, Easter Sunday, in my shirt. He is a Karen baby so is at least a quarter Faverolle (Karen is half). He is a doll. I noticed him pipping and I so I brought the egg inside with me. I just had to experience the entire hatching process first hand.

I had a little hen who also looked something like Derp have that happen to her. She was paralyzed and so could not groom herself. When I would feed her sometimes the food, if wet, would stick to her face feathers. I learned the hard way that the others would pull her face feathers out as they...

Ya know....I LOVE roos too!!! Most seem to like hens but I find that the roosters have so much more personality and they are always interested in what Im doing. The hens just want to know if I have any treats when I go out in the yard. If no treats then they are off and running....the roos like...

Rooster? What makes you think so? Normally the coloration gives it away on Faverolles but with a black one???
