    i scrambled 50 eggs one time when i had way too many, it was terrible. I couldn't even stir it and i broke the wooden spoon, the dogs really loved it though. But when you posted about mashing after boiling that seemed a whole lot easier. I think i'm going to give it a try.

    do you find that adding egg to the chick feed improves growth rate and health because of the higher protein. I give my dogs eggs and they seem to do better with them, but haven't done it with chicks.

    this works, but leave the two spaces next to the motor empty. the heat from the motor affects those eggs (amazing but true). I did this once with double layers of eggs.

    once they are in lockdown you don't need to turn them any more. The chick inside is using that time period to absorb the yolk and get itself into position to hatch. The turning is much more important in the early stages of incubation. Have fun!!

    I always had a lower hatch rate with my Lav Orps and i have heard this from other sources.. I don't have any laying right now, I sold the layers and just kept some chicks and a roo, but let me know in a few months if you want to try agin and I will help you out if i can. I still have a Lav...

    LOL... it's the expensive quest.. like the holy grail. I have never put anybody in a show but maybe one day I will. I was looking at my blue roo today and thinking i should put him in a show.. but then i decided it was way to risky and he may catch something so here he stays LOL...

    Yep, my $100 Marans eggs hatched last weekend... 7 chicks from 15 eggs that makes them $14.29 apiece. They were some exceptionally dark eggs though.!! In 3 weeks i'm getting some wheaten marans eggs in!

    Mine stay in there until pretty much everyone except the stragglers are hatched this can be 24 hrs or more they are fine. reasons for me to take them out are 1. There are so many they are causing distress to the other ones still hatching 2. The ones left hatching are real stragglers and...
