This boy is from a nice heritage rose comb RIR hen crossed with my Rhodebar roo.
He is free for the taking if anyone wants to pick him up in Southwest Oklahoma
Yep... They were $27 a piece, auction prices are unpredictable. I bought some 3 wk old GoldenLakenvelders for $1.25 each on the same night. Two wks before sold a trio of mature Silver Appleyards for $37 each. Price depends on the crowd, so wouldn't count on Rhodebars always brining that price.
a trio of maybe 4wk olds brought $27 a piece at Newcastle auction last night. Not sure who brought them, but I will find out when I talk to Scoots next. Was to see them at the auction Wonder how many others in Oklahoma have rhodebars.
Biggest issue with August is it is 110+ here. I usually stop hatching any eggs by 4th of July & start again in September and hatch through Oct.. I prefer to get them fully feathered before any chance of winter weather comes. That is just what works for me. My rhodebar pullets are 17wks old & I...
I have a few nice RIR hens. Lost my roo a few months ago. Plus I have 2 rose comb RIR hens. I planned on using the roo to hatch a few dz chicks with my RIR hens.
Its very interesting to see the difference in all the Rhodebars. I try not to get too upset about it. I was so excited to see Lavender...
I was looking at previous post #154 & saw that Twistedrooster has a roo with a bunch of extra black. Went & picked up 2 extra roos that are suppose to be from GFF & one has the same look as twistedrooster had posted. Its hard to tell from the pic I have, but the roo with the black is much darker...
Waiting is all you can do. Mine that came from greenfire are not all identical in appearance, so I am expecting some off color eggs. I need to take some updated pics to post. Will try to do so in a few days, once this cold spell passes.
Eramsey99 glad you found some locally. I culled my roo today, broke my heart to do it, but he wasn't thriving so it was for the best. Might have to make a rd trip to Tulsa for a replacement. Just not sure how to fit it in my schedule.
Enjoy your new additions!
Completely understand. I still get the flu even when I get the vaccine.
He has improved from when I found him been up on his feet & seems alert, but he still gets off balance easy. Fingers crossed he makes a quick recovery.
I instantly thought Mereks, GFF vacinates though. The females that past were never thriving 100%. I know not all birds can be perfect & just assumed they were not ment to make it. However the male was always perfect until last night. He is in a large wire dog crate away from others with...
Of the original 11 GFF chicks I received I lost 3 pullets. They all appeared to be runts & died within the past 2 wks. Now my rhodebar Cockeral is acting as if he can only use his right side & unable to stand upright. The symptoms came on suddenly last night & as of right now no others show any...
The 2 rhodebar males that didn't survive shipment were pretty trampled, however I did see some brighter yellow fluff that is similar to your light colored chicks. I have 1 female that is much lighter than the others. Also some of my females chipmunk stripe is broken on the neck.
Greenfires own...
My rhodebar "day old"chicks from GFF arrived yesterday. I am guessing they are at least a wk old. Box was shipped the afternoon of 1/16 & made it to my post office on 1/18. 2 males were DOA & were completely trampled. All the were very chilled & I was scared I would have a few more losses. Happy...
