I have final got a breeding group of three hens and a rooster . Bought the hens in Feb. and found a rooster yesterday . So I will soon have eggs to set . Not the best but a start .
You should get a black sex link . Chicks should be mostly black . Males will have a white head spot . Unless the Chantecler is dominant white . Then no sex linkage as the chicks would be mostly white and you could not see a white head spot on a white chick .

No need to separate them and possibly disrupt their laying. Just check their vent for size. If laying the vent should be large moist and pliable. If eggs are being laid the opening will be large enough for the egg to exit.
