    The Rhodebar thread!

I got some chicks that was rhodebar and legbar cross in them. They laid lots and lots of olive colored eggs. The great part is that you can tell what they are male or female at birth. Olive eggs are not my forte so I sold them.

Very interesting and that is why a RB roo crossed with a welsummer hen. The offspring that I have noticed are autosexable using the welsummer autosexing rule at birth to sell male or female.. I never made it to the F2 stage as they are only barnyard egg layers at that point.

That is just sad that we had more conversation over a guinea in the last couple days than a rhodebar in the last couple of months. Lol I might have to post pictures.

I was just hoping for some reason that the rooster was not throwing that green gene. Oh well, I have a home he is going to that does not care about egg color as long the chicken looks good.

I had some rhodebars and kept the rooster that is on my avatar. I was getting green eggs off the rhodebar pullets so they went to a place when they were hens as green egg layers. I kept the roo to see if he threw the blue egg gene and put him over welsummers. Look what I have in this welsummer X...

I had that problem with dogs and I ended up putting up electric fence and it works very well. That is too bad for your loss.

Still too young for the roo. It looks like he might darken up a bit.

How did you get a picture with all of their mouths open at one time. That is cool as it looks like they are all singing.

Don't mean to change the talk about that hen possibly being the same and there is no picture of the roo on that webpage. I did notice a rope to the leg... I don't use that type of restraint as I have more area to simply let them go in the fence for my restraint.. Does anyone on here use the...

There are rose comb rhode island reds out there. Why not make life easier and put the rhodebar over a rose comb RIR? I am sure that will make life easier in the long run. I just might have to get some rosecomb RIR. My rhodebar got hammered this winter with frost bite and my buckeye roo also got...

Those coyotes are nothing to mess with as you know. What you said should be considered an act of self-defense due to the fact that the coyote was at that close of range to you and didn't care about your yelling towards it. You do as you can as noone is there except you/family, but if I were...
