Hi Sylvester017,
We decided to keep the whole coop in the run, egg boxes and all. I was afraid of how to secure it from predators. And of course we are in our worst dought yet so not too worried about rain, though I suppose I should be!! I sure hope they adjust! If they're anything like other...
I was reading through the posting about the fancy coop backwards and became very worried as hubby just finished covering our coop/run with shiny corrigated tin! Then I read your post Talkalittle and reallyrelived!! We have built it under a very large pecan tree so it's shaded vutually all summer...
So sad for the loss of your leghorns. :( the Reds should lay beautifully, right? I'm expecting 5 bantams hens from Cackle on the 25 th. They better get here safely!! My postman is aware of the order so I hope that helps. And no snafus!!
A great idea! I just put the pole lower and it is even with the nest boxes with I thought might be a problem. The perpendicular pole would allow them to hop a short distance to and from the higher perch. Thank you! :woot
Something like this? Great idea! Thank you so much!!
I love you way of letting the hens do what feels good to them! i wonder if they really like an enclosed space to sleep. My coop is pretty open for now, I think I'll cose it in the front or near the top front. I've got a little time. But I am hoping to put them outside after two or three weeks...
You make a good point about the "runway', I'll have to think of something. Any ideas?:/ I plan on leaving the top open like in the picture with some chicken wire for comfort
Now my coop seems too narrow. Bummer! What I'll do is look for ideas and then probably let the hens guide me. Maybe...
I think you're right. But will give the girls a chance to try it out. There is another roost mount closer to the bottom of the nesting boxes. I'll just try things out. Thanks. so much!
I hope you can make out the roost bar in my pics. I was wondering if this will work so close to the nest boxes. The coop is for 5 bantams coming feb 26. We will have time to rework it if the hens don't like it or they sleep in the boxes. Maybe I'll cover the nesting box with curtains? What do...
Just want to show you a little support!! I hope he gets it done. The bathtub through the floor? I'd still soak in it!! But really, good luck with everything!! I look forward to hearing about it being done. :D
We haven't put in their roost bars yet. I'm planing on two of them. One close to the top and one below and in front. Also going to enclose the front and top.
Just 5 little hens, bantams. If not big enough, back to the drawing board!
Building our new coop for an order of chicks coming end of Feb. This is our second go around of chicken raising. Bantams this time. Very excited.
Can someone point out the add image icon? I can't find it.
Thank you!!
