Hi Everyone, it's been a month since I've been on and it seems everyone's had a few disasters. So sorry to hear about everyone's losses and mite infestations. I've been scratching in sympathy as i have been reading through the posts i've missed. Fancychooklady: Your garden is gorgeous! I love...

Thanks Fancychooklady. I do have a guinea pig hutch that I converted to a brood box so I might be able to attach that to the run on the quarantine hutch and unscrew the ramp so they can't get up top. I'll put the ramp back when they're a bit older. This arrangement may even give me easier access...

Thanks Teila for the advice, I'll do exactly as you've done. Great idea on the little table underneath as I definitely don't want the little babies falling off the ramp and hurting themselves. Thanks

Hi Candz I live in Sunshine Coast and I recently bought silkie chicks to add to my flock. I have a sand base in my coop about a foot deep. I use construction sand as anything finer is no good for the girls. It's amazingly easy to clean, I just run a rake through it a couple of times a week and...

Hi FancyChook Lady and Satay Thanks so much for the advice, the company I purchased them from said I could only take them out for half days when they're 4 weeks old then they go outside full time at 5-6 weeks. My 4 x Silkie's turned 4 weeks old yesterday so I took them outside for their...

Hello Fellow Aussies Would love some advice, I've read sooo many things on the BackYard Chicken forums that i'm feeling overwhelmed. I'm currently raising 4 week old Silkie Bantams in a hired brood box in my garage. I originally had 6 chicks (2 x Splash, 1 x Black, 3 x White) however lost 1 x...
