    3/6 today. Starting to worry now about my two RIR as to why they still have not layed when they're other "chick mates" have all started now. They're combs are pink and not very large. Very frustrating after being this patient since last year.

    lol very true! I pur a topic on last Saturday about my rooster not crowing.... he crowed for the first time Sunday mornin!! Now my leghorns had her first egg today too so all are layin apart from the rir!!! Unbeleivable lol This sites my lucky charm :)

    Woohoo. Well add another new layer cause my wee light Sussex layed her first egg. Now just the rir girls an the odd one lol

    thank you, they roam on about an acre an a half. As for the age of the RIR and the other youngers - i got them all at one day old last June so they will be one in June. But i agree both my rir have barely a comb on them either. Yes the black chickens are one hen one rooster lol

    Thanks everyone for your comments. I now now for a fact that the 4 eggs i get are from the buff sussex, the black hen (dunno breed) and the wee seabright looking hen. I witnessed all the lays today thank goodness lol. So now just waiting on the one year olds, RIR, light sussex and leghorn...

    Hi all, hope you don't mind me jumping in on this thread... Such a great read. Ok well as stands i have 10 girlies and 2 roosters. I get at the most four eggs a day two brown from the buff Sussex. two white, one from a black girl (not sure of breed, black very large comb and white earlobes...
