I did try scrambling an egg for her, she picked at it for a bit. She ate maybe 1/4 of it or so. I also tried soaking abou 1/4 of a piece of bread in olive oil on the off chance it was some kind of impacted crop issue. She ate that ok and I massaged several times, but didn't seem to make a...

I appreciate any help or suggestions. She is absolutely one of my friendliest and favorite chickens
So I'm hoping someone will have some insight for me. My brahmas not feeling well, and for the life of me I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. She's about 9 months old and up until last week seemed fine! Then I noticed she wasn't interested in treats and that when I picked her up to look her...
Lol, yep. This is something I could see happening in my yard. Then my husband would come in and tell me what "that chicken with fluffy feet" did since he refuses to learn or call "the livestock" by name
I wouldn't say my husband is embarrassed about keeping chickens, but he does mostly just humor me and my love of them He has always made it clear that they were my gig. He enjoys the eggs and will occasionally gather them for me. He also finds himself grudgingly amused by them sometimes, but...
Sparkle is 20 weeks old
I'm so jealous of your adorable chicks speckledhen, I wish I had the space to have more than just the one. I would love to have a whole flock of brahmas, I just love the look and personality of them.
As mentioned earlier, it'll be more accurate in a few weeks. But, I'm guessing that third picture is of a cockrel. See how there are three vertical rows of bumps on the comb? Typically the sign of a boy. But time will tell! I'll be curious to see new pics in a few weeks
Awe That awkward chick head with real feathers phase, lol. My 3 month old Sparkle is the same way! The most ridiculously friendly chicken I've owned to date. I just love her!
Sparkle's view from the hospital crate Unfortunately I have a trio of chicks, so no buddy for her. The crate isn't big enough for all three and I don't want to leave one chick alone with the big girls. But, she's in my living room...so even though she doesn't have a chicken buddy, she is far...
Thankfully it's not bending out to the side or anything like that. So do you think just some r&r? She is just the sweetest chick ever, I feel terrible that she got hurt in the fist place.
Thank you to everyone who chimed in!
I checked her feet and they look good. I think it might be her hip or knee? She limps much worse after she's been laying down for a while, but while it is a little better with use, it's still very pronounced.
The best guess I can make is she pulled something while running from one of the big...
So my little 9 week old light brahma is limping I've got her separated in a crate, but I'm wondering if there is anything else I can/should be doing for her? It's the 3rd day she's been limping, and I'm not sure how it happened. At first I was hoping it would heal by itself, so I just let her...
An update on Sparkle, she's already 7 weeks old! She and her two chick friends got to mingle supervised with the big girls today. Thankfully they are all learning to run far and fast from my top hen who's a barred rock.
Some can be very dark as chicks. They seem to have more dark fluff under their feathers as adults making the Columbian pattern less crisp but still nice looking birds. Its not a hard and fast rule, just my personal experience and what I've seen on here. She's a cutie!!
Thanks! Good to know, I...
