I've had my dog kill one chick last year, and thoroughly learned her lesson. We had 2 dogs attack the flock and somehow didn't kill any of the chickens. Then a fox came and got my cockerel. Our life shall go on.
My little girl Daffodil, is not the queen anymore! She was fighting for top position with my cockerel William, but apparently he is now the head bully, and Daffodil is at the very bottom. Now the lead pullet is my big, skittish, Welsummer named Moka (french spelling).
Daffodil a while ago...
Sorry, I read your 1st post wrong. The top hen is usually the most bossy, and the others know that they need to get out of her way. Lead hens also make decisions for those who can't, and tell the others when it's time to go to bed. :)
Looks to be a Red sex-link, also known as a Red Star, Cinnamon Queen, Red Comet, Golden Comet, and ISA Browns I believe. If you get a picture of her full body, then I can be sure. :)
We know our lead hens are bossy, but lets see their outer beauty! Please post their age, name, and breed. You can post as many pics/chickens as you want. Such as, ones we have had long ago, or if we have multiple flocks. Their is no prize, but just have fun!
Here is mine, her name is Mumble...
