I will look into this for an option until I am more predator proof. I will start looking up types and searching the forum. I know Laura Haggarty has mentioned hers before, and others since this event too. Thanks

Can't do a donkey, so sometimes, instead of playing rooster, I play the part of the jackass! lol, but really if I could have a donkey, I would in a heart beat. I have looked into the dogs today, and heard plenty of posts referencing them here and on FB. I am in Albuquerque NM, Thank you so...

Thanks for the link. Also, anybody that is looking to get rid of any good tempered buckeye hens that are not quite fitting their goals for the standard etc, or for whatever reason, I would love to give them a good home. I will be getting some chicks as they come into season, but in the mean...

Thanks Yeah, I read about the electric netting . . . They love to be out and range, but I have to protect them better, now especially since the word is out that there is warm meals here. Will be looking into sectioning part of the yard with some electric fencing I believe.

Well, yesterday I found Echo (closest) had laid her first egg. Her comb and wattles had finally started forming. I found my first buckeye egg in the nesting box with our Wyandotte's egg. That may be a perfect temporary fix until the dirtwork is done! These birds are so well behaved it amazes me. They stay in their little section of the bed and have a great time! The garage is insulated so that keeps the deep heat off their backs, and I have a fan blowing air around them so its...

CGMC this post was quite helpful to me, as it provides a look into the mystical, or at least that's what it seems like for me right now. I have Three young pullets (14wks) living in the bed of my pickup until I can get to building their coop (waiting on some dirtwork). As a first timer, I have...

And Thank you Pathfinders for that info . . . I always get unsettled when I feel like my birds are not looking like what I think they are! (which is a confusing statement, sorry)

Yeah, the first time they did it I laughed, almost like I have been sheltering them too much, and then they hit the sun, and over they went! I do like how Butterscotch rolls right onto Echo! Cracked me up. Here they are when much smaller hanging out on my arm I have been enjoying the...

These are my two 11wk old buckeyes sunbathing together, along with some funny antics. I love these birds, and the SLW that cruises by, less interested in the sun. Echo (who always sings and talks) is on the left, and butterscotch is on the right :) One question I have, is that my girls combs...
